2023 Adopt An Artifact Program

Click on a button to learn about the artifacts in need of restoration

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum has been collecting, preserving, and sharing history with the public since its doors opened in 1910. Did you know that less than 10 percent of the Museum’s artifacts are on exhibit at any one time?
Our collection needs proper storage and care in order to protect and share it with future generations. Now you can help Soldiers &Sailors preserve vulnerable parts of its holdings by adopting an artifact. Because of an item’s condition at the time of donation, or simply due to the ravages of time, some artifacts are too fragile to exhibit.

Your tax-deductible donation to the Adopt an Artifact program will support the restoration and storage of a piece of your choosing and preserve its historical integrity.

Adopting an artifact is a meaningful way to get involved with the museum’s collection and help provide the support needed to continue to care for our ever- growing collection. Surprise a friend or loved one by adopting an artifact in his or her honor, or show your pride in Soldiers & Sailors history by adopting one for yourself.

Visit each page to learn the history of the artifact in need of special attention.

You will receive:

  • Personalized adoption documentation describing your artifact and its historical significance.
  • A one year Friends Membership - Good for free museum admission and access to membership program rates and museum store discounts.
  • Your adopted artifact will be on exhibit for one year, together with signage recognizing your donation.
